Contains records of payment of Ohio Militia members. Each entry includes name of officer distributing pay, officer's rank, post office or township, number of militia members being paid, total number of days payees were in service, total amount paid, date of order of payment, and remarks.

When Mexican and Civil War soldiers mustered out of service, many regiments turned their flags over to the state of Ohio. The General Assembly authorized the purchase of glass cases to display battle flags in the Statehouse. The battle flag collection increased as flags from the Spanish-American War, World War I and World War II were deposited. By the 1960s the flags were in poor condition.
